Museo de Artes Populares

About the museum

The main objective of the Ma. Teresa Pomar University Museum of Popular Arts is to conserve, study and exhibit pieces of Mexican popular art according to its artisan branch, in order to create a point of contact between the spectator and the works exhibited in order to awaken interest in and appreciation for the artisan products of our country.

The MUAP exhibits its collection to all publics, especially to those who cannot get close to the communities that produce popular art. Another of our main objectives is to preserve the traditional designs and the perfected techniques of the artisans, as well as the permanent exhibition of their work..

In this way, the University of Colima fulfills the objective of taking knowledge out of its classrooms, in order to achieve the goal of extending the benefits of culture to a greater number of people.
