After a 20 years track record as the main Colima’s art museum, the University Gallery has been reinforced itself as one of the most awakened cultural spaces not only because of the proposals presented by its own labour office and the conservation-diffusion of its set, but also because of multiple activities that holds being coordinated with other university departments, several artist, promoters and characters involved in the local-cultural tasks.
The museum has 11 museographic rooms organized along Mr. Pascual’s House and the Piano House where temporal exhibitions take place in order to present pieces from the university set including the most relevant visual arts proposals from the Midwest region.
As part of the central room in Mr. Pascual’s House, a polychrome stained glass placed on the ceiling calls the attention. It illustrates the Colima Volcano in full eruption. This room works as the see of recitals, literary activities, concerts, conferences and different cultural activities.
In this area, the permanent exhibition room dedicated to Alfonso Michel -a notorious painter from Colima- is placed. With a selection of pieces such as La Barricada, Bañista, Retrato de Pita Amor y Jarras.
